For any independent artists or labels a personal/company website is a must because it serves as a home base and a way for fans to connect with the music and the artist. For those that don’t have the time, money, or knowledge to create a good webpage, a Facebook fan page is a good start.

Fan pages offer a place to inform fans about current events and new music, it can have pictures, video and band page tabs for fans to listen to the latest tracks. Facebook is the world’s largest social network, because of this anything connected to it ranks very highly on search engines like Google.  Fans searching for a band or artist will see the fan page in the first set of results.

Fan pages are not the end all of promotional work but they are a big part. Fan pages should have good artist background information, current music and pictures, and links to any other place on the internet that the artist has published work.
